have undertaken the role of Club Welfare Officer for CFD as a ‘mum’
to one of the boys who attends and also to assist CFD in making
sure each child’s safety and wellbeing is paramount whilst learning in
the Football environment. To become the CWO I have had to attend two courses with the FA, one was a ‘Safeguarding Children’ course, the other a ‘Welfare Officers’ course. I do also have a background and some knowledge in the Child Protection Arena. Part of my role will be to assist CFD in any further recruiting of new coaches and making sure they will undertake an enhanced CRB check done by me through the FA CRB Unit, which is the standard all current coaches are taken on by CFD. I also need to ensure that CFD’s Child Protection Policy is adhered to and any concerns raised by the children, parents or coaches is reported to me for me to act on. I will be liaising closely with the North Riding FA’s CPO Jamie Clarke if any issues cannot be dealt with by me Please feel free to ring me anytime on my mobile and come and see me on Friday’s at CFD if you need any other information. useful. Soccer Parent On-line – this is an online ‘Respect’ course aimed at parents to set a positive example at the grassroots of Football whilst on the sidelines. Key the title into your search engine and it will take you straight into the guide, it only takes about 20 minutes, I’ve done it and its worth seeing.
